Three officers were sharing a lull in their game war: the general, a major and a 1st lieutenant. The discussion devolved to whether making love was work or pleasure.

The general, by far the oldest, said that at his age and its corresponding experience and wisdom, that it was, overall, 50:50 love and work.

The major, still thinking himself in the prime of life but struggling with his marriage said, 75% work and 25% pleasure...and going south every day.

The lieutenant, young, vigorous, newly married and full of fire, said making love was certainly 75% pleasure and 25% work, and that he loved work!

Unable to resolve this sticky question, they asked SSG Melchinger, who was delivering an intelligence report at that very moment. The question: Is making love work or pleasure?

Melchinger, composed and reflective, took a brief moment and replied, "Making love is 100% pleasure. If there was any work attached to it, you'd have me doing it."
